Matt Brooks was inspired by his love for the ocean, surfing and food, to create a new kind of spoon.  

He saw an opportunity to solve a problem when his friend needed a spoon for his ice cream but used the lid instead.  

After folding and cutting fiberglass to repair the nose of a surfboard, he ​​came up with the first design. Having seen the The North Pacific Gyre while in the US Marine Corps, and all the plastic on the beach, he decided to make single use, compostable spoons to offset plastic waste, iterated, and went to market with the patent pending nuSpoon Taster.
